DROPLETS ADDS ATG DYNAMO BRIDGE TO ITS ARSENAL

Seamless Integration with Dynamo Application Servers Allows Businesses to Transform Web Applications Into Dynamic, Locally Presented Software

NEW YORK, February 21, 2001 - Internet software infrastructure company Droplet, Inc. today announced the public release of its Droplets™-Dynamo Bridge, a powerful new component of the Droplets Platform that allows businesses with existing ATG (Art Technology Group, Inc.) Dynamo ® deployments to easily adapt their Web applications for delivery with the Droplets Platform.

The Droplets-Dynamo Bridge was initially developed in conjunction with a Droplets strategic partner for use with a global consumer products company, and is now publicly available to all enterprises with a need to leverage existing online applications, while enhancing the value and functionality of their online services.

"The Droplets-Dynamo Bridge is an important benchmark in our drive to integrate Droplets seamlessly with all major application servers and network deployments. Using the Dynamo Bridge, our customers can radically upgrade the UI (user interface) quality of existing Web-based applications, and serve them directly to their users' desktops with a minimum of development effort," said Philip Brittan, CEO of Droplet, Inc. "The improvement to end users is significant, but to developers and administrators, the integration and deployment is incredibly straightforward and seamless."

Using the Droplets-Dynamo Bridge, enterprises can retain their Web application's business logic, while modifying the servlet-based presentation layer to work instead as a rich, interactive Droplets GUI. Since only the presentation layer need be altered, the time to market is radically reduced.

Once a Dynamo application has been "Droplets-enabled," it will serve browser-independent, online applications with the look, feel and responsiveness of typical desktop software. Like local software, Droplets UIs are component-based, persistent and asynchronous. Users activate Droplets by double-clicking a desktop icon, and Droplets' real-time User Event Protocol (UEP) uses as little as one-tenth the bandwidth of Web-based applications, giving Droplets the speed of local software.

ATG Dynamo is the most recent addition to the suite of industry-standard application servers that integrate seamlessly with the Droplets UI Server. Droplets also support Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB/J2EE) servers, as well as all application servers that support XML, COM or CORBA interfaces.
